Chalk on the Walk is the annual spring fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Cambridge. The proceeds  help the Club support many Cambridge charities throughout the year.

What is Chalk on the Walk?

Chalk on the Walk is the Cambridge version of an Italian Street Painting Festival and is one of the many interesting activities that make Harvard Square MayFair a destination for over 100,000 people on the first Sunday in May. The artwork is judged and prizes awarded at 4:00 P.M.  This year's MayFair and Chalk on the Walk was be held on

How is the money raised?

Local businesses and generous individuals buy "squares." Each square is assigned to an artist.  The sponsor's name appear on signs at each square.

This year there will be a space set aside for children to draw.  A donation of $5.00 will give a youngster access to a square, chalk and gloves to cover their fingers. The money raised from the children's section will go directly to Rotary International to help meet the $2 million matching grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to Eradicate Polio Worldwide.  

How will Cambridge Rotary spend the money it raises at Chalk on the Walk?

The money we raise from Chalk on the Walk is the primary source of funding for our charitable works. The Club grants scholarships to graduating high school students and makes donations to Cambridge charities that deal with problems ranging from mental health and homelessness to teen drug abuse and literacy. Ever mindful of Rotary's place in the world, the Club is always ready to lend support to emergency relief efforts when needs arise.
